Process Server Field Documentation Guide
How PPS Serve process servers should document field work: notes, photos, same-day updates, safety, and applying to the network.
Documentation is the job when service is not completed, and it is the backbone of proof when it is. This is the field standard. Same-day updates Send the note the day of the attempt. Intake should not have to chase you. Say when access is blocked, when the address looks vacant, or when a page is missing before you drive back. Notes and photos together Use the attempt documentation checklist. Facts in order. Photos that identify the location. No legal conclusions in the note. Safety and professionalism If the location feels unsafe, leave. Write what you observed. Do not force a gate or follow someone into a space you were not authorized to enter. Identify yourself, keep the conversation short, and do not debate the lawsuit. Applying Independent process servers apply through get started as a process server.
